Since 2016, we have been helping veterans develop their own sense of purpose, to reach their highest capacities, holistically. The secret to veteran success begins with getting our basic human needs met. Changing the odds against veterans is possible - we know because weve done it before, &a; can continue to, with your help. From give-back campaigns &a; mutual aid volunteer opps to educational workshops &a; mentoring, FVF utilizes activities as tools to build bridges &a; solidify bonds connecting young OIF/OEF vets &a; Vietnam era elders to find commonalities over painting, hiking or yoga. Unspeakable stresses haunting vets can be eased with the presence of reliable community. Studies show that vets who feel connected to community are more likely to access the services they need, &a; less likely to self-harm. Connecting with civilians &a; other vets sparks an innate sense of duty &a; service to others inside of former servicepeople. Being present in this purpose builds resilience to substance abuse, violence &a; depression. Our leadership team bring years of experience to the challenge of maintaining veteran mental &a; physical health upon return home. As a results-driven group, we are proud to share our proven success record in improving members emotional stability &a; physical well-being, preventing relapse &a; isolation. With our partner Veterans Walk and Talk we organize &a; participate in group walks &a; hikes where vets &a; civilians advocate for and enjoy the great outdoors, natural healing methods &a; holistic approaches to well-being, including outside activity that allows us to unwind &a; fully be ourselves in a safe context of peers. Our Operation E.V.A.C. group meetings occur multiple times a week (normally in-person, currently live video, online) to discuss a common prompt topic or quote, check-in by sharing whats on our hearts and minds, our recent experiences, to learn about wellness &a; to do a 20 minute iRest Yoga Nidra meditation.
