Alaska Logistics

Alaska Logistics has provided scheduled barge service from Seattle, Washington to various ports throughout Western Alaska since 2003. As the years have passed we have significantly grown, and now offers a wider variety of transportation services. We continue to regularly service the Western Alaska ports, but now readily offer services into surrounding villages, transport to Central Alaska, and charter our marine equipment. Alaska Logistics is owned and managed by General Manager Allyn Long. After ten years as the Logistics Manager at Osborne Construction Co., which is a major general contractor for many Alaska Projects; Allyn had the experience and knowledge to start up Alaska Logistics. As Logistics Manager he developed freight plans to coordinate loading, and expediting of freight to jobsites at the lowest cost, while meeting project schedules. He was responsible for all air, steamship and barge transportation needs for one on the biggest contractors in the state. This foundation provided an excellent training platform for his responsibilities at Alaska Logistics. Alaska Logistics began as a small new player that leased virtually everything to provide our service. We now have our own fleet of equipment including forklifts, cranes, loaders, trucks, barges, tugs, landing crafts, and hundreds of containers and shipping platforms. Our team has expanded as well, now employing close to fifty employees, including crew members, consolidators, schedulers, talliers, project managers, and operations coordinators. Alaska Logistics' core competencies center around our capabilities of transporting into shallow waters, up rivers and into hard to reach ports with limited other means of obtaining resources. Our provided consolidation services and willingness to transport freight pieces of all sizes, from single package smaller than a pallet up to an entire barge load, have allowed us to accommodate shipper's needs. We offer seasonal service throughout our Western Alaska ports and villages, operating from April through October. All shipments are personally quoted by a project manager, who will answer all questions and walk you through all the steps needed from booking to delivery, to receiving. In the beginning Alaska Logistics' strength was our driven and passionate employees who make things happen. Couple this core group who started the company with the specialized equipment we have acquired over the last seven years, and the continuation of growing our team with motivated and talented individuals makes us very proficient at what we do.
