Envirograf have now designed and tested a series of new cavity barrier fire seals especially designed for outer cladding building systems. The new range of seals comprise a light weight metal bracket that allows fixing to the main building substrate, cruicial in a fire senario, ensuring the seal remains in place for the full fire-rating time specified. These seals are designed for both horizontal and vertical fixing offering cavity fire protection for all wall and floor junctures. The seals also offer a fire shield section that fits between the insulation sections, offering full fire seal stability in a fire situation. Many building and construction projects now use a variety of outer clad facing systems as an intrisic element to the completed architectural finish. These include rainscreen facades, metal cladding and glass wall systems. These systems often include cavity air gaps as a part of their overall design and therefore require cavity fire seals at both wall and floor sections to fulfill building regulations. Specifying the correct fire seal is important for these building designs, as the fire seal used must provide effective fire protection whilst not blocking or interupting the air flow, crucial to cladding technology.
