Exit 9 Wine & Liquor Warehouse

After working 12 years in the Alcohol industry at the wholesale and supplier levels, Mark decided to explore the retail end of the business. With a solid business plan and bank financing, they were ready to go. The Clifton Park area of Saratoga County, NY was chosen for its large bedroom community to Albany and proximity to Saratoga Springs and Lake George. A 10,000 square foot store was leased in The Crossing Plaza off exit 9 of I-87 (The Northway). A co worker to Mark joined the staff; Andy Scherer was a wine salesman working with Mark at the time. Sharon left her job as office manager for J.C Penny's and took the role of office manager for Exit 9 Wine & Liquor Warehouse. Our first holiday season was a huge success and we knew we had something special. We continued to grow and expanded with an additional 2000 square foot warehouse in 2003. In March of 2005 we moved our location five store fronts away to an old TJ Maxx store. This 30,000 square foot location was quite an undertaking. Many people in our industry thought that a store that big could never support itself but we proved them wrong. We continued to grow and expand our inventory. In 2010, an opportunity presented itself that was too good to pass. We moved across the street to Halfmoon, NY. An old Linens-N-Things stand alone 37,500 square foot building would be our new home. A complete renovation with brand new fixtures; we created our dream store, complete with a temperature controlled 4000 bottle wine room and a walk-in cooler for chilled wines. Exit 9 Wine & Liquor Warehouse is now one of the biggest and unique wine and liquor stores in New York State! Despite our size, Exit 9 Wine & Liquor Warehouse continues to be a true family business. Working with Mark and Sharon O'Callaghan are many family members and non-relatives who are like family. Mark and Sharon have two daughters that work at the store, two brothers-in law and two nephews. Andy is like a brother to the owners. Dave and Geri are like family as well, along with many cashiers and stock workers with many years of service. We look forward to the future serving our customers with excellent customer service and a wide choice of wines and spirits at great prices. Our customers and community are why we are here and have made us what we are today. We continue to commit to giving back by donating wine, money and time to hundreds of charities and community events each year.
