Every December I put together a list of my favorite books from the year. Here are the top 10 from 2020. Check out previous years: 2017 , 2018 , 2019 The story of Elizabeth Holmes has been exhaustively told, and likely more stories to come. Bad Blood by John Carreyrou is the origin story of Theranos, Elizabeths biotech start up that went belly up in 2016. Through a facade of success, Theranos was able to fool investors, the media, and patients for years. Bad Blood reads like previous crime favorites The Mastermind , American Kingpin 9. A Mathematician&s;s Apology - G. H. Hardy (1940) G. H. Hardy, mathematician in the early 1900s, famously wrote A Mathematician&s;s Apology in 1940. He goes in depth to describe what makes math beautiful (brevity and succinctness) &a; important (general and widespread application). He also happens to pick a fight with Chess suggesting it is a unimportant field. Pick this one up for a short easy read. 8. Get Together - Bailey Richardson, Kai Elmer Sotto, and Kevin Huynh (2019) It seems like Stripe Press can do no wrong, and that trend continues with Get Together. While working on a community-building project , I was inspired to take even more action through steps in this book. Creative Selection dives into the process of designing the first touch keyboard on the iphone. As narrow of a topic as that sounds, it was extremely fascinating to hear about the development evolution. Ken Kocienda takes you through his trial, error, and even a few Steve Jobs stories. Highly recommended for fun Apple history. I was turned onto this book through a recommendation by Jeff Seibert . Im not sure where I got this recommendation, but Warfighting falls into the category of books you read which arent directly related to anything you do, but indirectly help you apply concepts to your everyday life. Dive into this dense military book of tactical strategy to learn about the philosophy and mindset of our nations Marines. 5. HBR Guide to: Buying A Small Business - Richard S. Ruback, Royce Yudkoff (2017) Many ...
