In the beginning, the business dealt in and serviced Austin, MG, and Morris cars. A period of expansion started when Helston was bought by the Carrs' son and daughter-in-law, Mr & Mrs Carr, in 1975. Helston's first acquisition was a Renault dealership in Taunton; in the years since, the story for Helston has been one of continuous but stable growth. Today the group is one of the 25 largest in Britain, and its 39 franchise dealerships provide customers throughout Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset with high-quality new and used cars and vans from a variety of different manufacturers (as well as servicing facilities for three more brands). Helston Garages Group is very proud of its history and is determined to retain the principles of honest dealing, customer service and staff welfare that are responsible for its 59 years of success.
