Hodson Bay Group

Hodson Bay Group is one of the few remaining Irish family owned hotel groups and currently comprises of three four star hotels. The group was established in 1992 with the opening of the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone and expanded with the constructions of sister properties, Galway Bay Hotel on the outskirts of Galway City and Sheraton Athlone Hotel in Athlone. Owned and run by the O'Sullivan family and directors, the hotels are renowned for warm hospitality and unbeatable locations. Despite a financially turbulent time period in Ireland during the group's existence of 25 years, the group has continued to strive. Its durability and longevity is attributed to continuous investment in its hotels and the training and development of loyal and friendly staff. Being an independently owned group has allowed a great deal of flexibility in modernising facilities and practices and ultimately has facilitated the group's growth and brand awareness. Individually, the excellence of service and facilities and each of the properties is in receipt of a number of impressive accolades such as 'Luxury Sea View Hotel 2016', 'Best Conference Centre 2015' and Best Carvery. Similarly, as a group, the Hodson Bay Group has been honoured with several awards but the most prestigious of which includes the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards. These recognise indigenous Irish companies across the island of Ireland operating at the highest levels of business performance. In the face of rigorous assessments and criteria, the Hodson Bay Group was the first hotel group to win the Platinum Award in 2016- a tribute to the group which had received the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Award for seven consecutive years. Collectively the group currently owns over 500 bedrooms and provides employment for over 600 people within the Hodson Bay Hotel, the Galway Bay Hotel and the Sheraton Athlone Hotel. The next phase of group expansion includes a new property in a prime location in Dublin City Centre.
