John 3: 16 Mission
John 3:16 Mission women's ministry offers an intensive approach to helping homeless and at-risk women transform their lives. This free program, called Renew, offers a Christ-centered, biblical therapeutic model to promote recovery and life transformation. It is based on the scripture, Ephesians 4:21-24. The passage reads in part: You were taught with regard to your former way of life to put off your old self…to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." Women now apply to enter the 6-month-long program and must be committed to changing their lifestyles. Some of the program requirements include: coming to the Mission at least 4, preferably 5 times per week, work therapy, recovery classes three times a week, regular church attendance and Bible study. Women get more one-on-one attention with staff who offer counseling, case management and help with goal setting. After three months, each woman gets a mentor to help guide them through the recovery process. They receive assistance with things such as finding employment, housing, getting documentation and referrals for other services. The long-term goal is for women to be transformed and that means achieving independence, stability and freedom from addictions, attitudes and beliefs that are destructive.
