Sigma Phi Omega
Sigma Phi Omega was founded at the University of Southern California in 1949, making the organization the oldest Asian-American sorority at USC and the third oldest Asian-American sorority in the United States. The sorority was established as a social organization for Japanese-American females in the aftermath of World War II, a time characterized by strong anti-Asian sentiments across the country. Over time, Sigma Phi Omega has grown into a strong and loving sisterhood, whose bonds spread across universities in California and Texas. Our symbol is the white dove, to represent peace, purity, and innocence. Our flower is the yellow rose to represent the nurturing nature of our sisterhood. Our colors are kelly green and maize yellow for strength and character.
