Stephen Wise Free Synagogue is a congregation dedicated to the vitality, growth and development of contemporary Jewish faith, thought and living. Our welcoming spiritual home connects congregants to God, Torah and Jewish heritage through innovative worship, exceptional educational programs, and engaging social activities, which advance the progressive principles of Reform Judaism. Worship-Distinctive and inspirational music and active congregational participation promote the search for and connection with God. Education-SWFS is committed to comprehensive and continuing Jewish education for children and adults in history, observance, beliefs, culture and Hebrew. Diversity-Our congregation reflects the strength of our diverse membership. Unaffiliated and observant Jews, interfaith families and spiritual seekers-all are made to feel comfortable, respected and religiously fulfilled in our spiritual community. Equality-In keeping with Stephen Wise Free Synagogue's history, the religious and secular equality of all is reflected in our congregation's leadership, participation and teachings. SWFS embraces the ideal of freedom of the pulpit and pew, school and society. Our seats shall never be owned by or assigned to individual members on a financial or other basis. Social Action-We are committed to the precept of tikkun olam (repair of the world) through meaningful social services and social action in the local community and beyond. Our congregation relies on the vigorous participation of our members in synagogue life, including Services, programs, projects and committees. Open Communication-The clergy, professional staff and lay leadership collaborate in the conduct of synagogue functions in a constructive and collegial alliance.
