We are also offering our esteemed clients, in this case women, special medical examination packages known as the WELL WOMAN CLINIC AND WELLNESS CLINIC FOR WOMEN. It is a special provision for preventive health plan for women by way of comprehensive medical examination and treatment. Above all these we have not lost sight of the fact that the health of staff of SSNIT is one of our major areas to work on. I am happy to report that we have diligently discharged this duty in a perfect manner. There are several indicators pointing to the fact that we are on top of this, and I believe the Director General will attest to this that there is lesser and acceptable waiting time for SSNIT staff at all our facilities. There are few complains, if any, in relations to the service we provide. Professor Chairman, amidst these highlighted and other achievements, we are not resting on our laurels. Indeed we are leaving no stone unturned to ensure consolidation of what we have achieved. We continue to work in conformity with international standards hence the several recognitions from the international communities in respect of our quality of care. In recognition of this, Professor Chairman, we recently received two international awards for delivering high quality healthcare. In December last year, we received two distinguished Quality Service Awards from the European Business Assembly in Oxford, UK and some few months ago there was another one from The New Ghanaian, Sister magazine of the West Africa Magazine. Professor Chairman,The Trust Hospital Company Limited has also archive success in respect of the Millennium Development Goals, as factored into our business plan and also in line with the United Nations’ development Goals on maternal death and Children under five. Child mortality, also known as under-5 mortality, refers to the death of infants and children under the age of five. Reduction of child mortality is the fourth of the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals set out in Key policy intervention to reduce under-five mortality rate by two-thirds between 1990 and 2015. Child Mortality Rate is the highest in low-income countries, such as most countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. A child's death is emotionally and physically damaging for the mourning parents. Therefore at The Trust Hospital, we have effectively worked hard to contribute towards the reduction of child mortality in the country. Our figures indicate that there has been significant reduction in both infant and under-five mortality rates in terms of child birth at The Trust Hospital. Professor Chairman, ladies and Gentlemen, Due to pragmatic measure put in place by the Board and Management as well as the hard work of the staff of The Trust Hospital, I am happy to announce that we have not recorded any maternal nor infant mortality over the last two years. Our statistics indicates that 2010 and 2013, a total of 3,075 women have been safely delivered at the TTH. In 2010 we recorded a total of 745 deliveries and the number increased to 817 deliveries the following year. In 2011, the TTH recorded a total of 751 deliveries, and following year, the number of safe deliveries shot up to 762, and in all this periods, only two deaths were recorded�. At the TTH we appreciate the fact that child bearing is a gain and an indication of a successful marriage in Ghana and therefore we do not only work towards that but more importantly make it happen. Our medical officers and other staff give premium to our clients to ensure that both the mother and baby survive and safe before, during and after delivery. That is why we have built the capacity of our doctors and midwives for them to offer the best of care to our mothers for them to deliver safely. We deem it as very important to constantly monitor the health of both the pregnant woman and the baby during pregnancy to enable them detect any form of abnormalities in the baby and treat them as early as possible. With this strict monitoring of the babies, any form of abnormality is detected early enough and timely treated to ensure that the baby is not only delivered safely, but also grows well during childhood. It is for that reason that we have initiated series of programmes and services such as pre-natal counseling and exercises for our clients. For us at TTH, several training programmes have been lined up for the staff to pursue high and professional education on maternal mortality. In addition, the staffs are encouraged and motivated to make success of birth and deliveries their primary focus.
