AccessBank Tanzania

AccessBank Tanzania (ABT) is a commercial bank with a special focus on microfinance. With very strong international shareholders such as AccessHolding, International Finance Corporation (World Bank), KfW, African Development Bank and MicroVest, ABT's vision is to be committed to the development of financial systems that support social progress by rendering services to all people with the same ambition for excellence and quality. In the first quarter of 2015, the Bank initiated its agent banking channel which enables the delivery of a range of crucial banking services to its customers using appointed agents countrywide dubbed "AccessBank WAKALA". Agents are given Point of Sales (POS) electronic terminals that enable them to render services available in the banking hall remotely. The introduction of this channel is intended to offer an even higher convenience and easy access to banking services as well as grow the footprint of the Bank. The Bank targets to grow the number of its agents to 300 and set up cash-less outlets in the rural areas by year-end, bringing its services closer to rural-unserved or underserved populations.
