ACGB

ACGB was founded in 1972 following the meeting between a boiler maker and Eric Öhlund, a naval architect. Ateliers et Chantiers de la Grande Bruyère was formed with just five employees and initially commenced construction of sail and power boats in steel or aluminium. In 1992, the company focused on manufacturing tanks and the first tanks were supplied to truck manufacturers which established the company as an exporter. With the original equipment supplied on trucks not providing the capacity demanded by hauliers, one customer ordered a specially designed hydraulic tank with a unique fixing system. This was a turning point for ACGB and in 1984 the design and manufacture of bespoke and made-to-measure tanks began. In 2006, production doubled and the manufacturing facility was fully industrialised. A new workshop area was built to bring the total area to 4500 m2 and the company increased its workforce to 90 employees. In 2014, Sylvain Auvy took control of ACGB and prepared an ambitious strategy of investment in R&D for technology and materials, particularly to increase the export market for ACGB from 50 per cent to 75 per cent.
