Adept

The Adept Corporation was established in 1966 by Walter E. Gropp. From it's modest beginning of 3 employees and a facility of less then 5,000 Sq. feet Adept began designing, and fabricating high quality, low maintenance equipment. In 1989 we moved into our 22,000 Sq. Foot facility at 4601 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA. The foundation of our business is our CAD equipped engineering department and our CNC and Wire EDM equipped manufacturing department. In our first quarter century we established ourselves as a quality window fabrication tooling and special machinery supplier. We were instrumental in setting up 45 window fabricators for one of the largest extrusion suppliers in the United States. From there we generated a line of standard product stampings that mainly service the vinyl window manufacturing industry. As we developed highly efficient stamping dies and assembly equipment, we established over 30 standard Adept products and numerous custom stampings for satisfied customers throughout the U.S. and Canada. In 1991 we began to produce extrusion tooling. In 2000 we were presented with the opportunity to produce plastic extruded product when a tooling customer was not able to produce the product that we built tooling for. We finished that project and gained a valuable new customer. That was the beginning of a new product focus for Adept Corporation. Since then millions of dollars have been invested in new extrusion equipment and many employees have been added to the work force. In 2004 sales doubled and in 2006 we produced 38,000,000 ft of extrusion out of 4 extruders. In 2006 Adept Corporation was recognized as one of the top 50 fastest growing companies inCentral Pennsylvania. As a result of that growth in 2007 we are expanding our facility to 62,000sq. ft. In 2005 Adept Corporation made management changes to facilitate a strong and growing future. Walter Gropp moved from company president to Chairman of the Board and David Williamson has been appointed the new company president. David is a 1990 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. David started at Adept working in the manufacturing and the Wire EDM departments during college summer breaks. Since 1991 he has managed the engineering department and has extensive background in extrusion tooling design. His management and manufacturing background will be great assets as he leads Adept into the future. The Adept Corporation was established as and continues to be a company devoted to meeting the needs of its customers.
