American International School Riyadh
AIS-R is a school that continues to learn and improve in the ways in which it delivers a 21st century global education, which is why in the fall of 2015 it embarked on a two-year process toward International Certification with the Council of International Schools (CIS). This collaborative, project-based learning involves the planning and implementation of six K-12 projects that aim to enhance the school community's intercultural competence and commitment to global citizenship. This is AIS-R's next evolution in its commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. The leadership team has attended seminars, formed project teams with faculty, met with CIS evaluators to review the project proposals, completed first steps within each project, and defined global citizenship with the school community, which currently reads: An AIS-R global citizen possesses the understandings, skills, values, and mindset to take meaningful action in creating a more inclusive, sustainable, and peaceful world. The next steps are for project teams to continue their work, collect evidence, check progress in November of 2016 and prepare for the CIS Presentation Visit in April of 2017.
