Qimmat Alamood Engineering

QAE was founded in 1935 and operated mainly in Basra. By 1960, the company had become the largest shipping company in Iraq, running the Basra ports. In 1976, the son of the founder received his PhD in Mathematics from Edinburgh University in Scotland, and began to shift the company towards the technology sector. The Iran-Iraq War and political pressure from the Saddam regime hampered the company's activities through the late 1970s. In 1982, the company ceased operations when the founding family had to leave the country. In April 2003, the Al-Amood company returned after the fall of Saddam and resumed its operation in southern Iraq. The founder's grandson, an engineer and currently the General Manager, immediately renewed the company's interest in technology and focused its efforts on providing communications services to various Iraqi Government and Defense organizations. Today, QAE is an Iraqi first-class registered company with the Ministry of Planning, the Iraqi Chamber of Commerce, and the Ministry of Trade. QAE has branch offices in Baghdad, Basra and Dubai, as well as a satellite office in the US. The company provides extensive Engineering and Information Technology services to the Iraqi Government, Military and Security Forces, as well as the private sector.
