Alliance Pharmacy

Alliance Pharmacy, previously known as Moss Pharmacy, was founded in 1915 by Edgar Moss with its first branch located in Feltham, South West London. Alliance Pharmacy was acquired in 1991 by UniChem Plc, and in 1997 UniChem Plc merged with Alliance Santé, a major pharmaceutical wholesaler in Europe, to become Alliance UniChem Plc. Alliance UniChem merged with Boots Group in July 2006 to form Alliance Boots plc. Alliance Pharmacy is the third largest community pharmacy chain in the UK, with 964 branches as at 30 June 2006. Alliance Pharmacy employs approximately 8,000 employees including over 1,000 pharmacists. Advanced EPoS systems are in place across the entire Alliance Pharmacy network. Alliance Pharmacy dispenses approximately 70 million prescriptions a year. Alliance Boots is a leading international pharmacy-led health and beauty group offering a range of products and services to customers, and working in partnership with manufacturers and pharmacists in more than 15 countries (including associates). The Group has two core divisions - pharmaceutical wholesaling and retail pharmacy: it has approximately 3,000 retail outlets in seven countries, including associates, of which 2,700 have a pharmacy, and a wholesale and distribution network serving 125,000 pharmacies, hospitals and health centres via 380 depots in 14 countries.
