Alt Reading

Alt Reading is an online magazine focusing on arts, entertainment and culture in Reading. Launched in January 2014, we produce articles each day ranging from interviews and reviews to in-depth features and events listings. + How is Alt Reading funded? Alt Reading is entirely not-for-profit - we aim to raise the profile of arts and culture in Reading as well as promoting Reading as a cultural hub. Currently, our basic costs are funded from our own pockets and some small donations - we do not accept advertising as we want to keep Alt Reading independent. Any donations made to Alt Reading would be extremely helpful in ensuring we continue to produce content each day, and can help us expand our coverage in Reading. It would also help contribute towards our long-term goal of having a full-time member of staff. + How are your weekly events listings compiled? Each week we produce two 'Top 5 things to do' articles, one for the week and one for the weekend. We try to include whoever we can but we are limited to 5 entries in each listing. Our list is compiled based on the number of events happening around town, the variety of events and the possible popularity of events.
