Azuluna

Azuluna began as a unique government grant project in 2004, initiated and secured by U.S. Senators Ted Kennedy and Joe Lieberman. The project was to assist in expanding and growing small farms in New England, and to fulfill the late Senator Kennedy's lifelong vision for healthcare reform, knowing the true solution to healthcare is a proper diet. Dr. George Saperstein, creator and founder of Azuluna, started this regional livestock and poultry business for the benefit of small New England farmers, who were threatened due to competition with large farmers in the Midwest and overseas. After retiring, Dr. Saperstein collaborated with current Azuluna president, Ken Rapoport, who acquired Azuluna and began marketing its premium meats and eggs to markets including Whole Foods. Today, Azuluna aims to continue to honor Dr. Saperstein's commitment to New England small regional farmers.
