BallyCara is owned and operated by the Queensland Hibernian Friendly Society. The Hibernian Society is a charitable and public benevolent organisation which is regulated by State and Federal Government legislation. The operation of BallyCara Retirement Village is in compliance with the Retirement Villages Act (Qld). The Aged Care Facilities are operated in accordance with the Commonwealth Legislation - Aged Care Act 1997 & Amendments. The Queensland Hibernian Friendly Society is a not-for-profit (charitable) organisation and public benevolent institution. For over 110 years the Hibernian Society has been committed to serving the community in particular disadvantaged people. In 1983 the Society commenced operations of BallyCara and established its ministry of the care of aged people. The activities of the Society are based on the Christian values of faith, hope and love and in adherence with the organisation's Mission and Philosophy.
