Belfast City Vineyard

Belfast City Vineyard is a member of a wider family of churches called Vineyard Churches UK and Ireland and has planted 2 churches in the last 5 years. There are currently 5 Vineyard churches in Ireland and around 100 throughout the UK. Belfast City Vineyard has been around since 1996, when Philip and Jackie Corrigan planted a church that became a community of up to 40 people. Belfast City Vineyard has been in many venues across Belfast as our community has grown and has always sought to be a church that serves our city with the love of Christ. The later stages have been in Ballarat Street and St Jude's Parish Hall. The church has spent the longest time in its current home on Sunday mornings in Fleming Fulton School on the Upper Malone Road. The church offices are on Castlereagh Street. In 2001, Andrew and Harmony Smith came as interns from Evanston Vineyard in Chicago for a 1 year ministry trip. This was a good year and both they and the church felt they should stay. The next summer in 2002, the planting pastors moved on and in early October 2002, Andrew and Harmony Smith became the Senior Pastors. They are under the authority of Jamie and Linda Watters, the regional overseers that pastor a Vineyard church in Glasgow, Scotland for the purpose of ensuring a healthy growing church that is theologically and morally sound and relevant in its local context. These pastors are accountable to the leadership council overseeing all of the Vineyard churches throughout the UK and Ireland, which is headed by John and Eleanor Mumford. You can find out more about what we believe as a group of churches here. We believe that everyone has their part to play in the life of the church... and should have fun doing it! We do not believe that the way we 'do' church is the only (or the best) way. It is simply what God has called us to. We recognise God uses many churches in this city to demonstrate His glory and we value good relationships with them.
