Bibb County High School

BCCA has served students from Bibb County High School and West Blocton High School for 30 years. The school opened its doors in 1974 as Bibb County Area Vocational School under the direction of Mr. Joseph Chapman. His wife, Dixie, taught Business Education while he served as director for many years. Three directors served after Mr. Chapman--Mr. Joe Roy Elam, Mr. Don Harmon, and Mr. John Bovis. Mr. Bovis started in 1995 and retired in May 2004. In 2004 , the name was changed to the Bibb County Career Tech Center. Mr. Dennis Duncan took over the position of Director July 19, 2004. Mr. Duncan has served as principal of Berry High School and as assistant principal of Hoover High School, both of which are located in Shelby County. He came to BCCA after working at Bessemer State Technical College for eight years. BCCA provides seven career technical programs as well as a magnet school and a resource services department for at-risk students. In 2008, the school was renamed to the Bibb County Career Academy.
