Bionexx

BIONEXX is a pioneer in the field of artemisinin production and is one of only two African based players. It ambitions to become in the coming few years one of the leading manufacturers of artemisinin in the world with a yearly market offer of 40 metric tons corresponding to 80 million ACTs. The creation of BIONEXX followed the initial Artemisinin Conference held in June 2005 in Arusha (Tanzania) where WHO and major other stakeholders called for new African players to enter the market in order to balance the pre-existing Chinese and Vietnam supply base. At the time price levels had soared to close to 1000$ per kg. BIONEXX is the only fully integrated supplier from seed to artemisinin. It has over the last 9 years deployed substancial financial resources in R&D both on the biomass side and on the processing technologies.
