Bios
The Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology of Colombia - BIOS is the most important Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) initiative in the country. We were created to enhance the knowledge-based economy and technology transfer. BIOS is promoted by the national government (Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies -MinTIC and Colciencias), the private sector (Microsoft and Hewlett Packard), and the academy (Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidad de Caldas, Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, and Universidad del Quindío). We are a private non-profit institution that provides robust supercomputing and highly qualified human talent for research and innovation; linking the government, industry, and academy to drive national progress based on science, technology, and innovation. BIOS aims to impact the policy on productive transformation in Colombia through high-impact projects in the agroindustry, cosmetics, health, food, machinery and equipment sectors.
