Bay Laurel Center Community Development District

Bay Laurel Center Community Development District (referred to within this web site as CDD or District or Bay Laurel Center CDD) is a local unit of special purpose government of the State of Florida created by and in accordance with the Uniform Community Development District Act of 1980, Chapter 190, Florida Statutes, as amended, and by Marion County Ordinance No. 02-11, adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Marion County, Florida on May 7, 2002 and amended by Marion County ordinance No. 04-10, adopted by the Board of County commissioners of Marion County, Florida on May 4, 2004. A Community Development District (CDD) is a governmental entity established as a vehicle for long-term maintenance, upkeep and operation of essential services and facilities through a single, coordinated entity. The CDD's primary infrastructure consists of a vast distribution network delivering water, wastewater and reclaimed water services to residential and commercial customers, and reclaimed water services to common areas within the boundaries of the District. A CDD provides the "solution" to Florida's need to provide valuable community infrastructure generated by growth, ultimately without overburdening other governments and their taxpaying residents. CDD's represent a major advancement in Florida's effort to manage its growth effectively and efficiently. This allows a developer to establish higher construction standards, meanwhile providing a long-term solution to the operation and maintenance of the community's facilities. The Bay Laurel Center CDD has been granted those general powers defined in Section 190.011, Florida Statutes, as well as those special powers defined in Section 190.012(1) and (2)(a), (d), and (e), Florida Statutes, all as more particularly described in the Marion County Ordinance.
