Blight Rayner

Blight Rayner is an integrated architecture, urban design and interior design practice, focused on the crafting of built environments - whether whole precincts, buildings, or the spaces within them. Our practice was formed by Jayson Blight and Michael Rayner following 24 and 36 years respectively of a renowned large practice. Our purpose was very simple - to offer our clients our vast range of experience in a direct and personalised way. Jayson and Michael are both 'hands-on' directors, engaging with clients, working together, and generating design concepts and solutions. An advantage of starting afresh is that we have been able to attract and hand-pick our staff based on our reputation. We now have, to us, the perfectly-sized 30 person practice of designers and documenters capable of meeting the complex challenges of projects of all types and scales. Complementing the mix is our annual employment of top university graduates, always with an eye on the future and nurturing their development as future leaders. We are a practice that spends many hours acquiring knowledge from other sectors and professions that help shape our design work to meet future demands. They include futurists, economists, planners, sociologists, psychologists, developers, and artists. We are Brisbane-based, located in the heart of the CBD and have opened our second office in Surry Hills in Sydney, presently creating the Western Sydney University Innovation Hub in Parramatta (with Tzannes).
