Bluebird
Bluebird Systems, headquartered in Carlsbad, California, develops and markets a suite of solution-oriented software used to input, store, and manage documents in concert with application software products that are developed and installed by leading industry vendors such as PeopleSoft and Datatel. The company, founded in 1982, began as a provider of SuperDOS, a multi-user software operating system, and has become a software developer in the document imaging solutions market. To enter the areas of object management, workflow, and computer output to online data (COLD) in a timely manner, the company acquired a team of developers and a mainframe imaging product from SAIC in December of 1991. Adding its own experienced developers to the SAIC team, Bluebird re-hosted the product to the IBM RS/6000 and began offering its then new product, imageABLE, in July of 1992. In 1998, Bluebird released ODOC, a powerful, NT-based, web enabled object management and workflow system designed to give organizations the power to replace labor intensive paper-based work processes with highly efficient PC-based ones. The client/server, multi-tier, open architecture of the ODOC suite enables organizations to achieve the performance and security they demand in mission-critical, high volume, and highly distributed environments. A PeopleSoft approved Software Alliance Partner for document imaging, Bluebird Systems was recently acquired by Open Text Corporation, a leading provider of collaborative commerce solutions. Located in Carlsbad, CA, Bluebird Systems also has an office located in Sydney, Australia.
