Bluegrass Farms

Blue Grass Farms of Indiana is a wholesale-only nursery located in Anderson, Indiana, 25 miles northeast of Indianapolis. Originally a sod farm, the company was begun by Harry Stoner in 1969. Brent Schalk and his father-in-law, Bob Stinson, purchased the farm in 1979. 1981 saw a nursery stock re-wholesale venture begin and in 1982 a growing operation was initiated. Sod production was phased out totally by 1987. Today, a wide variety of nursery stock is grown on over 500 acres in field production, 40 acres in container production and in a 57,000 sq. ft. greenhouse facility. Very few plants are outsourced. At the seasonal peak, 60 employees are hard at work doing all the things that need doing to accomplish our mission: - To grow and supply quality plant material to the horticultural trade at a fair price. - To maintain an on-hand inventory that offers the best year round availability in the area. - To excel in customer service day in and day out. - To provide an outstanding delivery service dedicated to the highest possible level of convenience for our customers. - To express the spirit of generosity in the form of wages and benefits to our employees in return for their efforts in making the company profitable.
