Best Practice Software

Best Practice Software

Best Practice Software is a privately owned, Bundaberg based company that develops and markets a range of quality software products that are designed for use in medical practices. First launched in 2004, the company has experienced exponential growth over the last five years. With a highly skilled Research, Development and Support Team, the business has established a reputation in the market for quality products and excellent customer service. The company currently supplies 2 software products to Australian doctors: Best Practice Clinical is an SQL application that is rich in functionality while being fast, stable and robust. The product has been specifically designed so that it improves efficiencies within the practice. The software allows the busy doctor to maintain quality electronic patient records, transfer information securely between agents (e.g. results from pathology services), produce safe and legible prescriptions, and better manage preventative health care protocols for patients. Drug database material is updated via the company website and most surgeries download this information via Broadband on a monthly basis, meaning that doctors have instant access to the most up-to-date information available. Best Practice Management is a billing and appointment book module that can be used with the core clinical software application. Launched in mid 2006, the product is well received in the market as it provides practices with a fully integrated option to older products in the market. It incorporates Medicare Australia's Online Claiming, allowing doctors to submit Medicare and DVA Bulk Bill claims electronically and have them processed and paid overnight. The company is continuing to develop new initiatives and has been actively working with other agencies to improve connectivity between the doctor, their patients, and other health care providers. In November 2006, Best Practice Software was the first software vendor to link doctors to the NSW Health HealtheLink Trial, a $20M electronic health records pilot.
