Boat People SOS
Established in 1980, Boat People SOS, Inc. (BPSOS) is a national non-profit organization with 15 branch offices in 14 states. Our mission is to provide relief, assistance, and support to Vietnamese refugees and immigrants in their search for a life in freedom and dignity, by empowering, equipping and organizing Vietnamese-American communities in their progress towards self-sufficiency. We provide programs and services in the areas of community development, family services, health and mental health, survivor services, and emergency preparedness and response. Our micro-enterprise program is funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement and serves refugee women in Maryland. We help women with little to no income to become self-sufficient by participating in a childcare service program. BPSOS provides training to assist participants in acquiring childcare certificates, developing business plans, and obtaining loans to prepare homes as childcare centers.
