For over thirty years, Buffalo Airways has continually operated under the same ownership. With a fleet of 28 mostly Heavy aircraft, our reputation as a safe and efficient operation is something you can depend on. Buffalo Airways offers what no other fire suppression service can - a diversified fleet that operates on land or water, year-round, not just during the regular fire season. Buffalo's tanker fleet consist of one Lockheed Electra tanker C-FIJX with an installed 8 door retardant tank that can deliver up to 3000imp.gal per drop and is fully equipped with an Envelope Protection System to enhance pilot safety and awareness during mission. Three of our Douglas DC-4s are equipped with the most modern computerized retardant delivery systems available. The Buffalo Airways CL-215 fleet consist of three Series 5 and one Series 1 CL-215 and can operate independently away from base on a 4 hour fuel reserve and deliver up to 50,000L of water per hour. Buffalo Airways also operates and maintains four Canadair CL-215s for the Government of the Northwest Territories which protect the forests, communities and mine sites in a forested area covering 614,000 ha2.
