CAMERON MCCARTHY is a 20-member landscape architecture, planning, and urban design firm located in Eugene, Oregon. Our work includes a wide variety of projects for both private and public sector clients. The firm's roots can be traced back to a private practice formed in 1952 by Wallace "Mac" Ruff, a renowned landscape architecture professor at the University of Oregon. Over the past five decades, the firm has gone through a handful of carefully managed transitions. Today, the partnership is under the direction of Larry Gilbert, Matthew Scheibe, Matthew Koehler and Colin McArthur. Our medium-sized firm, experienced personnel, and stable (long-term) staff are instrumental to our repeated successes. As a 20-member office, we are small enough to maintain direct involvement of a partner on all of our projects, and large enough to provide our services in an efficient and timely manner with highly qualified personnel. Our proportion of registered professionals is remarkable for an Oregon firm of this size: 9 of our 20 members are licensed landscape architects (covering Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California) and 1 member is a licensed planner (AICP). The firm is a member of the USGBC (United States Green Building Council), 3 members are LEED Accredited Professionals, and 1 is a certified arborist. We manage our workloads carefully and our project design teams are remarkably stable; 6 of us have been with the firm more than 10 years and we have not experienced a staff reduction in over a decade. The combined experience of the firm's personnel exceeds 150 years.
