Canizares Architects

Tracing its roots back to 1972 as JM Cañizares Architects established then, by our now President, Architect Jose Mari Cañizares, well known as a pioneer in designing Beach Resorts and other Master Planned Communities in Cebu and neighboring islands namely, the former Tambuli Beach Club, Pulchra Resort, Argao Beach Club, Badian Island Resort and Bohol Beach Club, among others. Eventually the projects became more varied and ranged from designing commercial establishments like Malls and Strip Malls, Banks, Resorts and Hotels, Condominiums, Townhouses, Schools, Churches and most notably the Terminal 1 of Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) which was completed in the early 1990's showcasing the use of "Sudtonggan" Stone as a signature finishing material, known and famous to this day as Mactan Stone. Over the years, Architect Mari continued to garner recognition and awards from both local and international organizations. The firm continued to expand in reach and number in 2010 and was renamed to Cañizares Architects with the addition of his 2 sons, Architect Jose Diego Cañizares in 2011 and Architect Kenzo John Cañizares in 2015 both with promising enthusiasm and passion for Architecture under the direct tutelage of Architect Mari. Today the company has evolved into a diversified practice complemented by youthful and aggressive partners and associates applying the same fundamental principles that started with the firm's inception in 1972.
