Carnival Australia
As a house of brands, Carnival Australia comprises seven leading cruise lines. Prior to the worldwide pause in cruise operations, three of our cruise lines P&a;O Cruises Australia, Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line were the only companies to base ships from Australia year round. A number of other ships from across our cruise lines fleets were deployed Down Under seasonally or visited local ports during the summer months. Through our local fleets, Carnival Australia, over more than a decade, played a key role in driving the growth of the Australian cruise industry to record highs. The pause has also served as a reminder of the economic contribution cruising made to the national, regional and local economies. Prior to the operational pause, cruising contributed more than $5 billion in economic activity annually and supported nearly 20,000 jobs. At 5.7 per cent, Australia had the highest market penetration by population in the world. Seven out of ten Australians who took an ocean cruise sailed on ships operated by Carnival Australia brands. Across the Tasman, Carnival Australia accounted for more than 75 per cent of New Zealands cruise passengers. We remain optimistic that cruising in Australia and New Zealand will resume allowing Carnival Australia to play a key role in the rebuilding of the industry and the revitalisation of cruisings growth story. Importantly, we look forward to again supporting our travel sector partners including travel agents, fresh produce suppliers, tour operators, entertainers and the communities that our ships visit, especially in the Pacific Islands. As with Carnival Corporation more widely, we see our highest responsibility and top priorities as compliance, protecting the environment and the safety and health and wellbeing of our guests, the people in the communities we touch, and our crew members. When the time is right to resume cruise operations, we are committed to providing our guests with a safe and healthy environment based on the latest advancements in health protocols.
