Castaway Goole

Castaway is a charity that works to enable adults and young people with learning and physical disabilities, autism spectrum conditions or mental health difficulties to access high quality arts opportunities. All activities are led by professional artists experienced in working with people with additional needs. We believe in the power of the arts to transform lives and our activities and projects are of great benefit to physical health and well-being and can be a key factor in the transition from childhood to adulthood and a sense of belonging and engagement in the community. Participants make new friends, grow in independence and in some cases are assisted in moving towards employment. We currently have over 100 participants who come from all over the Yorkshire & Humber region with provision for fully accessible transport for those who need it. We deliver progression opportunities throughout the organisation so members are able to not only access arts experiences but develop as artists and link to and engage with the wider arts world and local community. Castaway has developed over a decade as a member-led organisation, focusing on ability not disability, striving to achieve and produce quality work.
