CDC created the Hispanic/Latino Executive Committee (HLEC) in May 2007 to provide guidance and recommendations to the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP) in matters concerning the HIV epidemic in the Latino community. HLEC is comprised of CDC staff from each of DHAP's 10 Branches. In addition to providing guidance to DHAP, the committee has been actively involved in a variety of HIV prevention activities. Based on the recommendations gathered from the participants at this consultation and from subject matter experts internally, HLEC is currently developing a National Plan of Action that will guide CDC's Hispanic/Latino HIV prevention efforts for Fiscal Years 2009-2012.
