Cimber Sterling

Cimber A/S is a Danish owned airline whose primary area of focus is contracted flights with regional propeller- and jet aircrafts for other airlines. This focus guarantees Cimber's customers, which primarily are other airlines, a subcontractor that in no way competes with the customer and one that has the ability to dedicate itself to the customer's service concept and product. The company was established on the 15th of May, 2012-following Cimber Sterling's bankruptcy on the 3rd of May, 2012-through a business transfer of the CRJ activity which Cimber Sterling had been flying for SAS since 2004. 114 employees followed the business transfer, together with four CRJ 200 aeroplanes that took up flights on the 17th of May, 2012. Due to the business transfer, Cimber A/S has highly experienced and competent leaders and employees at its disposal, despite being a new airline. Cimber has been IOSA certified (Iata Operational Safety Audit) to ensure operational and safety related quality in the flight operation. Since being established, the company's activities have been extended with an additional aircraft, and today the company operates a total of five aircraft on firm contracts, four CRJ200 for SAS based in Copenhagen and one ATR72 for Höga Kusten Flyg (NextJet) based in Örnsköldsvik. Cimber A/S employs approx. 130 employees and has its headquarters in Sønderborg, together with activities in other airports. The company's maintenance facilities and hangar are situated in Copenhagen airport. On December 8th 2014 SAS entered into an agreement with the owners of Cimber to acquire 100% of the shares in Cimber A/S. Since 2004, SAS has had a wet lease agreement (aircraft and crew) with Cimber A/S (Cimber) that has a cost efficient production platform for regional jet operation. The acquisition provides SAS with an opportunity to transfer production with smaller aircraft to Cimber, consisting of 12 CRJ900 with base in Copenhagen. As a result, a more focused and flexible production can be achieved.
