City of Elgin
The City of Elgin is committed to working with restaurants and bars that wish to serve food and alcohol in a temporary outdoor seating area. The City has waived permit requirements in most cases, all application fees, and made other temporary accommodations to facilitate outdoor dining operations during Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan. In addition, on Wednesday, May 27, Mayor Kaptain signed an emergency proclamation which extends an establishment's current liquor license to include any City-approved temporary outdoor seating area throughout the duration of Phase 3. These measures are additional ways the City of Elgin is taking action to assist local businesses impacted by the pandemic.
