Caledonian Maritime Assets
Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited owns ferries, ports and harbours and infrastructure necessary for vital ferry services serving the west coast of Scotland and the Clyde Estuary, and the Northern Isles. Caledonian Maritime Assets was founded in 2006 after Caledonian MacBrayne Ltd was split into two companies, the other being CalMac Ferries Ltd. This was done by Caledonian MacBrayne Ltd transferring its operations, but not its assets, to CalMac Ferries Ltd. Caledonian MacBrayne Ltd, now CMAL, continues to own the vessels and land-based assets (ports, harbours, etc) and makes them available to an operator through an open tendering process. The company iswholly owned by the Scottish Government with Scottish Ministers the sole shareholders and is located in Port Glasgow, Scotland.
