CMD began in 1980 as Custom Machinery Design and has built an international business by inventing, and continually advancing plastic converting machinery and automation for manufacturing plastic bags, pouches and specialty converted products and flexible packaging used in a variety of industries. CMD offers custom and stock machinery, replacement parts, upgrade kits, and engineering and technical services in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. The firm has 79 patents worldwide and dozens more applications in process at this time. Some of CMD's inventions include: high-speed, continuous-motion bag sealing and drawtape trash bag converting; overlap bag winding for one-at-a-time dispensing of bags-on-a-roll; and Intelligent Sealing for verifiable pouch quality. CMD also designs and manufactures fueling equipment for compressed natural gas (CNG). CMD offers a unique, wrap-around service program, 24/7 station monitoring and solutions dispatch services, and comprehensive service training programs for technicians. CMD operates from a 126,000 square foot manufacturing, R&D and headquarters campus located in Appleton, Wisconsin and has machinery installations in 42 countries. The firm employs 200 people.
