Code One Training Solutions

Code One was founded in February in 2007 in our owner's dorm room at the University of Connecticut. Rich, a Sophomore nursing student recognized that he and his fellow students were required to obtain CPR certification for their clinical rotations and there were no convenient classes in the area. As a volunteer firefighter and EMT, Rich had already gone through training to become a CPR instructor so he was prepared to take on the task of running several courses to get his colleagues certified. Rich identified that the classes he offered were not only popular amongst his fellow students, but were also important for the community. He enjoyed teaching and quickly grew a team of experienced instructors to assist him. They began instructing EMT courses less than a year later at local fire departments with the first class graduating in 2008. After graduating from UConn, Rich went to work for a local hospital and taught classes on the side. He really enjoyed teaching and soon departed his full time job in nursing to focus on Code One. In 2009, Code One opened its first permanent office in Willimantic, CT just miles from UConn. Code One continued to rapidly grow and soon plans were made to branch out to other area markets. Two short years later, Code One outgrew its Willimantic center and moved to a much larger facility in East Hartford, CT. Code One was promoted to the status of Training Center by the American Heart Association - the highestly regarded entity in the AHA's training heirarchy. Code One's Woodbridge center was opened a short time later to service the New Haven area. In 2013, Rich and his wife Allison (whom he had met in nursing school at UConn), made the decision to expand Code One to a warmer climate in Charleston, SC and opened a center there. Longtime friend and instructor Tony Maggio was promoted to Regional Director to oversee Code One's operations in the northeast. As the company continued to grow, additional offices were opened to serve areas that didn't have many CPR courses being offered to the public. Code One's Worcester, MA office opened in April 2014 and the Stamford, CT office in September, 2014 to serve the employees of Stamford Hospital. In 2014, Code One's team of 42 staff instructors trained over 6,500 people in lifesaving skills, had trained over 200 nationally registered EMTs, its students had affected countless lives.
