Colorado Standby was formed in 1999 by Larry McCormack to sell and install residential back up power generation systems along the Front Range of Colorado and surrounding areas. After realizing that the market for this equipment was even greater in other geographical areas, the focus was shifted to sales and marketing of those residential systems on a nationwide scale using internet marketing and advertising. Colorado Standby provided the expertise for proper selection of the syst ems and shipped the products directly to the end user. The installations were handled by local technicians with support from Colorado Standby to assure proper product usage and operation. In 2000, Colorado Standby partnered with a major manufacture to assist in the effort of distributing generators which had been manufactured for the possible emergencies dictated by Y2K issues. The response to Colorado Standby's internet marketing of that inventory was tremendous, and it soon seemed apparent that the public was actively shopping and buying emergency generators more than ever in history. The product lines were expanded to include other power generation products for RV, Commercial Mobile and Emergency Vehicle applications. The need for emergency power for national disaster concerns also fueled our Emergency Power growth. In 2008, Colorado Standby was also awarded the "Outstanding Generator Distributor Award" from another major generator manufacturer. We now offer customers one source for Turn-key Residential and Light Commercial Installations which includes: generator sizing, location, permitting, electrical and gas installation as well as factory warranty testing and preventive maintenance.
