Community Multi-Services, Inc. (CMS), a non-profit tax exempt organization, has operated group homes for children and adults, and supervised apartment facilities since 1978. During the past 30 years, CMS has provided high quality, cost effective homes for Child and Family Services and Department of Disability Services. CMS strives to coordinate and integrate a humanistic approach of milieu therapy teaching and training for all its individuals. Community Multi-Services, Inc. (CMS), provides high quality residential Group Homes for the Developmentally Disabled Citizen in the Washington, D.C. area. These homes include individuals who display various levels of mental retardation, psychiatric disorders, neurological impairments, seizure disorders, adjunctive problems associated with the mental retardation and socially maladaptive behaviors. The therapeutic program in the Group Homes is designed to teach the individuals the skills necessary to live in the community and society at large. The basic philosophy of the Normalization Principle and Developmental Model is as follows. Provide residential group home and supervised apartment facilities to odate the target population who have been diagnosed as mild, moderate, severe, and profoundly mentally disabled and/or who have been diagnosed as having one or more disabilities. Provide a full range of services to ensure that each individuals basic and specialized needs are met on a daily basis. Assist the target population in developing a more positive self image and achievement of emotional stability. Community Multi-Services, Inc. has policies and procedures pertaining to the acquisition, modification, repair, or replacement of adaptive equipment. The purpose of the policies and procedures is to promote early identification of the need for, modify, or repair of adaptive equipment, and to obtain such equipment or repairs expeditiously. Further, the principle underlying this policy is the goal of continuously assessing a person's needs, recognizing that needs may change due to, but not limited to, changes in physical status, skills, health conditions, or other developmental issues.
