Cornish Mutual is different from most insurers - as a mutual organisation it does not have shareholders and is owned by and run for the benefit of its Members. The company prides itself on being clear, open and honest in its approach and above all providing insurance that keeps its word. The company was set up by a group of Cornish farmers in 1903 and stays true to their original values of getting a better deal on insurances for its Members - over half of Cornwall's farmers are Members. Cornish Mutual provides home, landlord, small business, farm and motor insurance to more than 24,000 Members living and working in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset. The Company is the only Chartered Insurer based in the South West and was recently named in the UK's Top 100 insurance companies.
