Damai Beach Resort is owned by Sara Resorts Worldwide, a member of the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Group of Companies. SEDC was established on 1st March 1972 as a state - owned statutory body with the general aim of promoting the commercial, industrial and socio-economic development of the State. SEDC was established under the Perbadanan Pembangunan Ekonomi Sarawak Ordinance (Sarawak Cap. 35), a law duly passed by the Sarawak State Assembly in accordance with the powers conferred on and delegated to the State Government of Sarawak under the Constitution of Malaysia. As a corporation that seeks to be a premier organisation in the State, SEDC continuously strives to improve its products and services for its customers through the implementation of various quality initiatives and programmes. These include the MS ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System, the 5S Practice, Innovative and Creative Circles (KMK) and Kaizen programmes. Its efforts in promoting quality and best pratices has been recognized by winning various State and National awards including the Sarawak Civil Service Quality Award (AKPANS) and the Malaysian Prime Minister's Quality Award (AKPM).
