DDS was amongst the very first in world to use the term Building Information Model (BIM) back in 1985, and the building model as the information carrier has been the core of the company's concept ever since. DDS-CAD MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) are a BIM authoring tool for MEP with integrated calculations and interdisciplinary coordination. This also includes the building envelope, which is necessary for energy calculations etc. The other product line is DDS-CAD Architect & Construction which is highly specialized to handle typical Scandinavian style residential units. The solutions also go deep into Timber Frame, precut, prefab elements and other industrialized production methods including interfaces to production lines. All activities related to this product is handled by the 100% owned daughter company, DDS Building Innovation. Data Design System's solutions support open standards and are also compliant with and certified for the buildingSMART standards (IFC and IFD).
