Debrecen is implementing the most complex educational development programme of the century that has won the appreciation of both the students and their parents - this is how Mr. László Ppp, mayor of Debrecen, put it into words in relation to the renovation project of DSzC's Beregszászi Pál Vocational Secondary School on September 23, 2019. The modernization programme of the educational system begins form the youngest age-group, from the nursery school institutional development upwards. There are 12 nursery institutions, each of which is to be upgraded; in some cases the building is also modernized, while in some other cases the equipment and insturments require upgrading. There are 33 nursery schools maintained by the Borough of Debrecen and modernization is taking place in 17 of them. The Borough is also spending remarkably large sums on primary schools, too, in spite of the fact that ever since 2013 the maintainer of schools has been KLIK (Klebellsberg School Maintainance Centre) whereas since January 2017 the maintainer has been the Debrecen School District Centre. Between 2014 and 2019 five institutions were renovated and another one at no. 17. Jerikó street is being modernized while another three buildings are prepared for renovation.
