The De Ferrers Academy

De Ferrers is a highly successful and ambitious 11-18 split-site Academy catering for over 1950 students, situated on the outskirts of Burton-Upon-Trent. We have received national and international recognition for the work we are currently doing on transforming teaching and learning through the use of Apple technology. As the Burton-Upon-Trent Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC), trainees with us will be provided with outstanding opportunities to access and develop their teaching in a modern, forward thinking educational establishment. The de Ferrers Academy, as you will read in the Ofsted Report of April 2012, is a successful and rapidly improving Academy. Year 7 is significantly over-subscribed annually and demand is growing. The same is true with our Sixth Form. However, we are never complacent and aspire to be outstanding in all that we do. Our aim is simply to be the most successful Academy on the national stage. To achieve this we need to achieve excellence in all that we do and then ensure that such levels are maintained and extended. The Academy is an exciting place to work. We work hard to serve our fantastic students and community. As importantly, it is a happy and exciting environment in which to work. Few colleagues leave, other than for promotion, and many have gone on to Headships and other senior positions across the country. Our two sites are approximately 1 km apart: Years 7 - 9 are taught mainly on the Dove Campus and Years 10 - 13 on the Trent Campus. There is the usual range of specialist accommodation and we are constantly seeking to update our buildings with the latest technology and facilities. Learning Centres, one on each Campus, have also been renovated and refurbished. These offer exciting opportunities for dynamic and innovative teaching and contribute to developments in teaching and learning.
