DITT Construction Ltd is one of the largest construction companies within Shetland, has been at the forefront of the industry and has been established for over thirty five years. The company has built up a management structure and work force with extensive experience in all types of construction. Today the company employs some 100 personnel with an annual turnover of over £10 million. Expertise has been gained in all forms of Construction including Civil Engineering with water retaining concrete, formwork, suspended slabs, high tolerance construction, structural steelwork, heavy lifting and crane handling. Our joinery workshop is capable of producing, a wide variety of quality house kits and fittings, samples of which can be seen throughout Shetland. There is an extensive range of stock within our Builders Merchants department, both for the trade and retail market. Our range of knowledge, expertise and ability allows us to undertake projects of all sizes, ranging from large Civil Engineering, Commercial and Industrial down to smaller scale domestic works. In September 2005 the Company was awarded the Master Builder of the Yaer Award by Federation of Master Builders, for the refurbishment of the Tollbooth, owned by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. In 2009 we gained accreditation for ISO 9001:2008, demonstrating our ability to perform at the highest levels. Whilst in 2011 we received our accreditation for the Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2004, which was complemented with the success of winning a Shetland Environmental Award for "demonstrating sustainability, innovation and best practice in the conservation and enhancement of Shetland's environment". Spring of 2016 saw us achieve another mile stone, with the accreditation of BS OHSAS 18001:2007, highlighting the overall performance of DITT's work force and its ability to continually develop, improve and implement new processes and procedures. We continue to demonstrate our improvement strategy through active participation with clients such as BP, who have commended us for our excellent HSE performance and appreciation, and on our ability to introduce innovative methods to make carrying out tasks safer, and more cost effectively. Our aim is to provide products and services that are safe, environmentally sound, and to a quality standard that exceeds customer's needs and expectations, at a price that is competitive. In order to achieve this, the company implements and maintains its integrated management system that control activities in an effective and efficient manner. Our philosophy is to remain customer focused and to encourage all employees to actively participate in the ongoing development of management systems. The effective management, reporting and review systems in place ensure the continuation of this process.
