Great Canadian Dollar Store was established in 1993 by founders Bud and Vivian Walker. Their vision was a network of bright, clean, friendly dollar stores - a place where you would want to take your mother or your grandchildren. After 22 successful years at the helm of Great Canadian Dollar Store (1993) Ltd, on April 1, 2015 and with their retirement plans in place, Bud & Vivian announced they had sold their business to Kevin Kane of Quispamsis, New Brunswick. Kevin was no stranger to Great Canadian Dollar Store as he had been involved with the company since 1997 both as a Franchise Member, and as an agent for the company in Atlantic Canada. At that time, as owner of 30 Great Canadian Dollar Store franchise stores in Atlantic regions, Kevin was already recognized as an established and successful retailer in the dollar store retail sector. With the transition in ownership completed, Kevin continues in the original tradition as established by the Walker's that of having a network of bright, clean, friendly dollar stores - a place where you would want to take your mother or your grandchildren.
